Broadband Internet

In the Topaz Lake and surrounding communities there are now three choices for broadband internet, satellite, wireless DSL, or cable.

Satellite service starts at $40/month (as of 8/08) with installation/equipment fees. Satellite services:

WildBlue (http://www.wildblue.com)
HughesNet (http://go.gethughesnet.com)
Direct View Statellite (775-354-7853).

Schat offers wireless DSL starting at about $30/month and an installation fee.  Contact Schat at 760-873-4377 or www.schat.net.  If you want the lower cost (128k) service, you need to ask for “Basic Internet Service”.  The full speed service is about $50/month.

SatView cable company is now offering high speed internet using cable at $50/month, less if you also take their TV offering.  There is NO installation fee or commitment required.  This is the highest  speed offering of the three at 1 M bps.
