Explorer's Vanishing Task Pane

You accidentally changed your Folders view back to that of Windows 98 (or "classic"). It's an easy mistake to make, but it's also easy to correct:

Select Tools, Folder Options, and choose Show common tasks in folders on the General tab. Click OK, and the left pane of the folder window will once again be displayed.
