Web Spoofing

 

Web spoofing is a tactic used by phishers to create web pages that look like those of a legitimate company or individual, usually for the purpose of getting you to enter information such as credit card numbers or passwords that they can then use for fraud or identity theft. The straight forward approach is to never enter personal information in a web site you got to by clicking on a link from an email. You wouldn't give out personal information to someone who calls you on the phone would you?  You need to insure the links you are going to are legitimate links, that is, ones you type in or have saved.  If you want more information on this subject, here is Microsoft's article on protecting yourself from spoofed web sites:
