Wi-Fi with Laptop
What you will need:
A Laptop with 802.11b or 802.11g built in
Or
A Laptop with a 802.11b or 802.11g Wi-Fi PC Card installed
Note: Today’s networks use 802.11b, but 802.11g is faster and probably will replace 802.11b in the future. It is also backwards compatible with 802.11b networks.
What do I do to connect at a HotSpot?
To connect using an open network, all that is required to take your laptop, turn it on, and let your computer connect.
If your computer has found the wireless network but the internet is not coming up, check your Internet Explorer settings. The most common problem is the Connection setting. Set to “Never dial a connection” (Tools, Internet Options, Connections).
If you are not connecting to the wireless network, you may need to choose the network to connect to. Click on the task bar Wireless Network Connection and click on the wireless network you wish to connect to.
